I love this time of year with all the produce coming fresh from our local farmers. I am lucky enough to be part of three farmers markets this year. Ancaster on Wednesdays, Dundas on Thursdays and Oakville Harbour side organic market on Saturdays in front of the Library on Navy St. downtown Oakville. It’s so much fun seeing tasting and buying from our local farmers. Last week I cleaned out some of the farmers taking all of their strawberries and rhubarb. I went back to the kitchen and the staff and I created delicious strawberry rhubarb pies and muffins. We also created strawberry, white chocolate and mint scones. Yesterday at the Ancaster market I bought these really cool globe zucchini. I plan to hollow them out and make stuffed zucchini with them. Stay tuned as I will post the recipe.
As some of you already know I have been working on a cookbook. Well I have decided to create the cookbook with the local farmers in mind. Each week I will create a new recipe using the farmers wares.
I hope to see you at one of the markets, it’s a awesome time.
As always,\ Happy Eating!!!!
