About Us
The Valley Gourmetwas founded in Dundas, Ontario in June 2000. Being committed to excellence we quickly established ourselves as the preferred caterer in Hamilton and the surrounding area. Our chefs are innovative and creative when preparing menu items using only local and organic ingredients when possible.
The Valley Gourmet bought a display counter and opened a little store in our catering kitchens in January of 2007 as a result of our clients requesting meals for them and their families. As time progressed many of our clients came to us asking if we could accommodate special dietary requirements. As always The Valley Gourmet was more than happy to take our truly awesome recipes and modify them to meet our clients’ needs. Well who would have thought that the demand for specialty diet items would begin to outpace our standard fare? Word of mouth led from the occasional request to us finally making the decision to become a specialty food supplier.
In January 2009 we made the decision to become a gluten free bakery and prepared foods store. Once again faced with another dilemma as how to produce gluten free food in a non-gluten free environment, we made the only logical decision. We will only make gluten free foods. We closed for a month, stripped the place down, removed any items that contained gluten and reopened with a line of Gluten Free Foods. As with any endeavour taken on by The Valley Gourmet we had to surpass the current standards for gluten free foods. We continue to strive to remain the premier maker of FRESH gluten free products.
Demand continues to grow for our products labeled under “YA’D NEVER KNOWTM/MC” (Featured in the Hamilton Spec in the GO section). A special thank you to the Hamilton Spec for their continued support.
On a daily basis I go to work and realize how truly blessed I am to be doing what I am doing today. I love creating new food and have incredible staff to help me do so. My customers are constantly challenging me to create new foods for them that they have not had for many years. Thank you so very much.
