Ya’d Never Know Date Squares (Just like Granny’s)

Ingredients

    95

    • 0.250 liter hot water
    • 908 grams dates pitted
    • 115 grams organic sugar
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
    • 0.125 liter fresh squeezed organic orange juice + zest from 1 orange 2 large oranges
    • 0.02 liter lemon juice
    • 0.01 liter pure vanilla extract

    • 418 grams
    • 328 grams organic quinoa flakes
    • 647 grams organic brown sugar
    • 454 grams melted organic butter
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda

    Directions

    Put all filling ingredients in a pot and simmer until all liquid is absorbed and dates are completely soft.  Cool the filling mixture.

    Preheat oven 350F – 185C

    1. In a bowl mix all dry ingredients well. Add melted butter to dry and mix well
    2. Pat 1/2 the mixture into a parchment lined 12x 18 pan
    3. Spread filling evenly over crumbs.
    4. Top filling with remaining crumbs, lightly pat.
    5. Bake for 30 minutes
